  • Getting to/from the airport ✈️

    Transporte desde/hacia el aeropuerto ✈️

    We recommend avoiding taking an Uber from the airport, as they're technically not allowed to pick up passengers there. Instead, we recommend sticking to official transportation options. We strongly recommend getting a 'Transfer' taxi, which you can either book in advance or at the airport on arrival.
    Recomendamos evitar tomar un Uber desde el aeropuerto, ya que técnicamente no se les está pemitido recoger pasajeros ahí. En vez, recomendamos usar las opciones de transporte oficiales. Recomendamos tomar un taxi 'Transfer', que pueden reservar con anticipación o en el aeropuerto al llegar.

  • Getting around Santiago

    Transporte en Santiago

    If possible, consider moving around the city using the extensive 'Metro' underground system. It's cheap, fast, and safe. If you're planning on using it a lot, consider getting a 'Bip!' card, which you can top up with credit and use on the Metro and buses.
    Both Uber and Cabify operate in Santiago, but ridesharing is technically illegal in Chile. To avoid any trouble, and carrying cash we strongly recommend booking official taxis through these apps — this gets you the best of both worlds.
    Si es posible, prefiere moverte por la ciudad utilizando el extenso sistema de metro 'Metro'. Es barato, rápido y seguro. Si planeas usarlo mucho, considere obtener una tarjeta 'Bip!', que puede recargar con crédito y usar en el Metro y los buses.
    Tanto Uber como Cabify operan en Santiago, pero el 'ridesharing' es técnicamente ilegal en Chile. Para evitar problemas y llevar efectivo, recomendamos pedir taxis oficiales a través de estas aplicaciones: esto te da lo mejor de ambos mundos.

  • Getting to/from the wedding venue

    To get to the wedding venue and back we recommend using Uber or Cabify to request an official Taxi. You could also group up with other guests to share a taxi van.

  • Where to stay in Santiago 🏨

    Dónde alojarse en Santiago 🏨

    We recommend you don't spend too much time in Santiago, and instead enjoy what the rest of the country has to offer. With that in mind, we recommend staying close to Line 1 Metro stations Pedro de Valdivia, Los Leones, Tobalaba, or El Golf. These are all in the Providencia district, which is a safe and central area with lots of restaurants and on a direct tube ride to major points of interest.
    Recomendamos no pasar demasiado tiempo en Santiago y, en vez, disfrutar lo que resto del país tiene para ofrecer. Con eso en mente, recomendamos alojarse cerca de las estaciones de Metro de la Línea 1 Pedro de Valdivia, Los Leones, Tobalaba o El Golf. Todos estos se encuentran en la comuna de Providencia, que es un área segura y céntrica con muchos restaurantes y un viaje directo en Metro a los principales puntos de interés.

  • Money tips 💵

      * Payment terminals in Chile don't always play nicely with foreign cards. It's a good idea to carry cash with you.

      * It is costumary to include a 10% tip at restaurants. You'll often just be asked whether you would like to include the tip ('propina' in Spanish) – include it unless service was terrible.

      * If you're ever asked for a 'RUT' number when making a purchase, just say you're a tourist. A 'RUT' is a unique ID number for chilean citizens and residents.
      * Los sistemas de pago en Chile no siempre funcionan bien con tarjetas extranjeras, así que es buena idea siempre llevar algo de dinero en efectivo.

      * Es esperado que incluyas un 10% de propina en restoranes. Normalmente solo te preguntarán si quieres incluir la propina – hazlo a menos que el servicio haya sido terrible.

      * Si alguna vez te piden un 'RUT' cuando compres algo, y no sabes qué es, simplemente indica que eres turista. El 'RUT' es un número de identificación único para ciudadanos y residentes chilenos.
